Designers have never limited their interests to the form of objects—they have been no less concerned with the purpose, the function of things. These days, new questions have arisen to replace those of aesthetics and technology: How can life be changed for the better? How can the world be made more amicable and people happier? These new tasks and the new horizons of design will be discussed at Summer at Strelka’s first lecture by Deyan Sudjic, director of the London Design Museum and a regular contributor to newspaper The Guardian.
