Participants of the workshop will learn basics of communication design, media and film theory, briefly debate concepts and analyze texts by Gilles Deleuze, Claire Bishop and Isobel Harbison. They will also improve their skills in design research, contextualization and discussion. The workshop will be of benefit for bachelor’s or master’s degree students of design (of any kind), philosophy, computer science or media theory. Basic skills in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator or After Effects are appreciated.

The Rodina (Tereza and Vit Ruller) is a post-critical design studio with an experimental practice drenched in strategies of performance art, play and subversion. In their work, Tereza and Vit often explore the spatial and interactive possibilities of virtual environments as a space for new thoughts and aesthetics that come forward from between culture and technology. The studio works mostly for the cultural clients such as Harvard GSD (USA), Sonic Acts Foundation (NL), and Hyuindai Card Library Seoul (KR). Tereza is an educator at Design Academy Eindhoven (Society & Change) and together with Vit, they exhibit and give lectures internationally, amongst many other academies at CalArts (USA), Cooper Union (USA) and ZHDK (CH).
