Francesco Bonami is an Italian curator, art theorist and critic, artistic director of the Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo in Turin, author-composer of Supercontemporary, a series of biographical books on contemporary artists, and he published in New York Times Magazine and Art Forum. During his nine years as chief curator of Chicago’s Museum of Contemporary Art (www.mcachicago.org%2F&sa=D&sntz=1&usg=AFQjCNG9SmekPOm2418oZsXjaKu3eJwoIA">MCA), he created many exhibitions, including «Universal Experience: Art and Life Through the Eyes of Tourists”, “Hiroshi Sudzhimoto: Architecture», «People See Pictures», «The Age of Influence: Reflections in the Mirror of American culture». Among his international curatorial projects are «Francesco: PS1/MoMA» in New York, «Religion and Politics in a New Generation of Italian Art» for Tokyo’s Hara Museum and the 50th Venice Biennale of Contemporary Art. 

At this lecture, Francesco Bonami will share his curatorial experience, talk about his views on the current radically changing functions of curators, art institutions and the biennale, and about his recent exhibition project «Modernikon», in which twenty Russian artists of the 1990s and 2000s created an image document of post-Soviet society together with the curator.
