Yuri Palmin is an architectural photographer and teacher of «Photography. The Basic Course» at the British Higher School of Design. He cooperates with such popular and professional publications as AD Magazine, Vogue, World Architecture, RIBA Journal, Icon Magazine, Domus, Abitare, Speech, EXIT, Mark Magazine, and «Project Russia.»
At his lecture, Yuri will show his work and photographs of Russian and foreign architectural photographers and tell about the peculiarities of the profession. Furthermore the changes in photography connected with the development of new technologies will be discussed, as well as thier role in the architectural heritage.
Yuri Palmin: «The lecture is devoted to the work of the architectural photographer in the context of the different processes in photography and technology. For example, today, there’s flickr.com, where I can find professional photography of architectural objects, which are not used in such magazines as, for example, Mark.
Due to technical simplification and a reduction of the threshold to enter the profession, architectural photography becomes accessible to architects, which is very interesting, as it creates deeper and more advanced photographs. The sense for architecture that a professional architect has, manifests itself maximally in photographs.»
